Pitlochry Dam and Fish Ladder

Pitlochry Hydro-electric Dam and Fish Ladder spans the River Tummel at Pitlochry in Perthshire, by damming the River Tummel, Loch Faskally was created behind it.

The Fish ladder allows Salmon to bypass the dam and swim up river to Loch Faskally, you might catch a glimpse from the observation window. A new and very exciting innovative Visitor centre (free entrance) shows exhibitions of Salmon migration and development of hydro electric energy in Scotland with hands on displays. Here you can take in great views of the dam and Loch Faskally from the viewing platform outside and indoors. There is a small gift shop selling local crafts and an onsite cafe serving Fairtrade coffee, delicious home baking cakes and light snacks. External terrace undercover seating with magnificent views.
